(12.84%), HYBE Co., Ltd. (11.28%), NAVER Corporation (8.87%), JYP Entertainment Corporation (7.96%), Kakao Corp. (7.62%), YG Entertainment Inc., Studio Dragon Corporation, CJ ENM Co., Ltd., Knowmerce Corp., and DEAR U Co., Ltd., among 34 total positions as of March 2025. The ETF, with an expense ratio of 0.75%, provides investors targeted exposure to companies benefiting from K-pop industry growth, including music production, artist management, content distribution, digital platforms, and related media services. Launched on August 31, 2022, and advised by Exchange Traded Concepts, LLC, the fund lists on NYSE Arca and originally targeted global investors interested in Korean entertainment and content ecosystems.
In a major recent development, Exchange Traded Concepts announced the closure and liquidation of the ETF on March 14, 2025, with the final trading day on April 1, 2025, and full liquidation on or about April 4, 2025, following challenges including a cumulative return of -32.98% since inception and assets under management dwindling to approximately $1.38 million. During the wind-down, the fund closed to new creations on March 31, 2025, deviated from its passive strategy for orderly liquidation, and distributed remaining assets pro rata as taxable cash to shareholders. Earlier partnerships included JAKOTA Index Portfolios Inc. supporting the index and distribution efforts alongside Content Technologies Inc. (CT Investments), the initial launch sponsor, though no funding rounds, acquisitions, or new product launches occurred in the last 1-2 years.
The ETF operated without subsidiaries or a parent company beyond its adviser and administrator SEI Investments, focusing on the miscellaneous region equity segment with primary exposure to South Korean public companies serving domestic and international markets in music, entertainment, and digital content. Headquartered effectively through its adviser in Oklahoma City, with index provision from New York-based JAKOTA Index Portfolios, Inc., the fund catered to thematic investors tracking K-pop and broader Hallyu wave growth prior to its termination.
