- Kodaco Co., Ltd. is a South Korea-based automotive components manufacturer specializing in the development, high-pressure aluminum die-casting, and precision machining of lightweight automotive parts. Founded in 1986 and headquartered in Cheonan-si, Chungcheongnam-do, South Korea, the company manufactures structural and mechanical components for internal combustion engine, hybrid, and battery electric vehicles. The company operates through several core product categories: engine components, including throttle bodies, oil pans, ladder frames, cylinder block components, timing chain covers, and oil pump covers; transmission systems, comprising automatic and dual-clutch transmission valve bodies, clutch housings, torque converter housings, transfer cases, and piston housings; steering system assemblies, such as rack housings, pinion housings, and steering column housings; air conditioning and climate control parts, including fixed and orbiting scrolls, swash-plate compressor housings, front and rear cylinder heads, and automotive HVAC compressor blocks; braking components, consisting of brake caliper housings and master cylinder bodies; and electric vehicle solutions, including electric drive motor housings, power electronic inverter and converter enclosures, battery pack structural components, and high-efficiency electric compressor housings.
The company supplies its precision-cast components primarily to global automotive original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and Tier 1 system suppliers, including Hyundai Motor Group, Kia Corporation, Hanon Systems, Hyundai Transys, HL Mando, LG Electronics, and Hyundai Mobis. Kodaco conducts its core manufacturing and precision machining activities across specialized production facilities in Cheonan and Anseong, utilizing automated die-casting cells, computer numerical control (CNC) machining centers, and proprietary non-heat-treated aluminum alloy material technologies to deliver lightweight, high-durability automotive subsystems for domestic and export markets across Asia, North America, and Europe.
In recent corporate developments, Kodaco entered court-supervised corporate rehabilitation proceedings to execute a comprehensive balance sheet restructuring and operational turnaround. As part of its court-approved reorganization plan, the company completed debt-to-equity conversions and capital reductions, establishing the Korea Development Bank as a principal institutional shareholder. To ensure business continuity and fund working capital requirements, Kodaco secured 50 billion South Korean won in debtor-in-possession (DIP) financing through an agreement with private equity firms VIG Alternative Credit and Korea Investment Private Equity. Furthermore, the company strategically rationalized its footprint by divesting its Mexican manufacturing subsidiary, MKDC, eliminating offshore liabilities to refocus operational capital on domestic production efficiency, cash-flow stabilization, and the expansion of component lines dedicated to next-generation electrified powertrains.
