- Lithium Africa Corp. is a lithium exploration and development company focused on acquiring, advancing and operating hard-rock lithium mineral properties in Africa. The Company explores for spodumene-bearing lithium-caesium-tantalum pegmatites and associated lithium mineralization, with principal activities centered on the Adzopé Project in Côte d’Ivoire and the Springbok Project in South Africa; it also holds an indirect interest in exploration assets in Côte d’Ivoire, Guinea, Mali and Zimbabwe through the LAR-GFL joint venture. Its mineral-property portfolio includes exploration licenses and targets prospective for spodumene-rich pegmatites, including the Saby and Kanien trends in Côte d’Ivoire’s Adzopé District, the Birthday Gift Project in Zimbabwe, and the Springbok Project in South Africa’s Northern Cape, which comprises a past-producing spodumene mine, an ore stockpile and a large land package containing mapped LCT pegmatites. The Company’s activities include geological mapping, geochemical sampling, trenching, reverse-circulation and diamond drilling, resource-target generation, mineral-property acquisition, project evaluation and early-stage development. Lithium Africa targets the electric-vehicle battery, energy-storage and broader lithium-chemical supply chain through the discovery and potential development of African hard-rock lithium resources. It operates through offices in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire; Harare, Zimbabwe; and Cape Town, South Africa, with its primary office in Cape Town. Lithium Africa Corp. was formed in 2026 through the acquisition of Lithium Africa Resources Corp. by Lombard Street Capital Corp., which changed its name to Lithium Africa Corp. and continued from Ontario to the Cayman Islands; its shares commenced trading on the TSX Venture Exchange under the symbol LAF in February 2026. The Company maintains a 50/50 joint venture with GFL International Co., Ltd., a Ganfeng Lithium affiliate, to acquire, explore and develop lithium projects across prospective African districts. Recent developments include the completion of an approximately C$8.8 million brokered private placement in March 2026; the first phase of the acquisition of Namli Exploration & Mining Proprietary Limited and its Springbok Project; receipt of South African Section 11 consent for majority ownership of Springbok and the filing of an NI 43-101 technical report in July 2026; active 3,500-meter diamond and reverse-circulation drilling at Springbok targeting a maiden mineral resource at the Norrabees pegmatites; and a 2,000-meter reverse-circulation drilling program at Adzopé, where the Company has identified the Kanien Trend as a second primary spodumene-pegmatite trend alongside the multi-kilometer Saby Trend.
