Business
Liberty Bancshares, Inc. (LBSI) is a registered Ohio bank holding company that operates as the parent of Liberty National Bank, providing commercial and retail banking services; deposit products including checking, savings, and certificates of deposit; consumer and business loans; mortgage lending; and related financial services to individuals, businesses, and local communities in Central and Northwest Ohio. Liberty National Bank maintains six full-service offices in Ada, Bellefontaine, Kenton, Marysville, Westerville, and surrounding areas across Hardin, Logan, Union, and Franklin counties. Founded in 1893 and headquartered in Kenton, Ohio, at 100 East Franklin Street, the company focuses on relationship-based banking in its regional markets. In December 2022, Liberty Bancshares completed a merger with Middlefield Banc Corp. (NASDAQ: MBCN), under which its shareholders received Middlefield common stock in a tax-free reorganization valued at approximately $64.4 million, resulting in Liberty's shares ceasing to trade on OTC Markets and its branches integrating into Middlefield's expanded 22-branch network across 12 Ohio counties with combined assets exceeding $1.7 billion. Post-merger, Liberty's former President and CEO Ronald L. Zimmerly, Jr., assumed the role of President of Middlefield Banc Corp. and The Middlefield Banking Company, with system conversion completed in April 2023 and the former Liberty website (myliberty.bank) redirecting to Middlefield Bank's operations.
