Business
MAHLE Metal Leve S.A. manufactures and sells components for internal combustion engines and automotive filters to original equipment manufacturers and the aftermarket; its core products include piston systems and kits, bearings, piston rings, valves, valve train systems, cylinder liners, ring inserts, air conditioning compressors, thermal and fluid management systems such as oil, fuel, air and cabin filters, engine cooling components, air management systems, electronics, mechatronics and drive systems for electric powertrains. The company operates through Powertrain and Charging and Thermal and Fluid Systems segments, serving passenger cars, commercial vehicles, agricultural and construction machinery, industrial applications and aftermarket customers including workshops, repair shops and fleet operators; products are manufactured at six plants in Brazil (Mogi Guaçu with two units, São Bernardo do Campo, Jaguariúna and Itajubá) and one in Rafaela, Argentina, with distribution centers in Limeira, Brazil and Buenos Aires, Argentina, a sales office in Panama and a Tech Center in Jundiaí, Brazil for research, development, engine testing and biofuels. Sales occur domestically in Brazil and Argentina, with exports to over 60 countries across Europe (primarily Germany, Italy, Spain), Central and North America (USA, Mexico, Canada), South America (Chile, Peru, Colombia), Africa, Asia (India, China, Japan), Oceania and the Middle East. Founded in 1950 and headquartered at Avenida Ernst Mahle 2000, Mombaca, Mogi Guaçu, São Paulo, Brazil, the company is indirectly controlled by Germany's MAHLE GmbH (61% owned by Mahle-Stiftung GmbH) and employs approximately 7,560 people. Recent strategic changes include the October 2024 acquisition of 100% of MAHLE Compressores do Brasil Ltda. and MAHLE Aftermarket Thermal Brasil Ltda. for R$668 million (approved at the October 3, 2024 shareholders' meeting with controlling shareholder abstention), adding air conditioning compressors and thermal aftermarket capabilities; the acquisition of 33.3% of Arco Climatização Ltda. to expand thermal management for buses including electric models; a October 2024 R$110 million three-year funding agreement with FINEP for sustainable mobility innovations like biofuels, biomaterials and digitalization at the Jundiaí Tech Center; and the release of its 2023 Sustainability Report in October 2024 aligned with GRI standards, highlighting ESG progress including a Golden Seal from the Brazilian GHG Protocol Program.
