Business
Magellan Aerospace Corporation is a global aerospace company that designs, engineers, manufactures, and supports complex aeroengine and aerostructure assemblies and components for commercial, military, and space markets; provides advanced proprietary products including Black Brant sounding rockets, RATO booster motors, CRV7 rocket weapon systems, and small satellite bus platforms; and offers maintenance, repair, and overhaul services for engines and components worldwide. The company operates through an integrated aerospace segment serving aircraft and engine manufacturers, defense agencies, and space organizations, with core offerings encompassing engine cold sections, hot sections, shafts, and manufactured assemblies; it maintains facilities across North America, Europe, and India, including key sites in Mississauga and Winnipeg, Ontario, and Tumkur, India. Founded in 1995 and headquartered at 3160 Derry Road East in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, Magellan employs approximately 3,800 people and trades on the Toronto Stock Exchange under the ticker MAL. Recent developments include a March 2025 partnership with Aequs Private Limited to establish a 50/50 joint venture sand casting facility in India targeting commercial and defense markets; long-term agreements signed in April 2025 with Pratt & Whitney Canada for precision manufacturing expansions at its Tumkur facility, supported by investments in new machining cells; and an amendment to its revenue sharing agreement with GE Aerospace to produce F414 engine frames as the sole source for the Korean KF-21 fighter jet program, US Navy spares, and Gripen engines over seven years.
