Business
Major Drilling Group International Inc. is a leading provider of specialized drilling services primarily to the mining and metals industry. The company offers a comprehensive suite of drilling services including surface and underground coring, directional drilling, reverse circulation, sonic, geotechnical, environmental, water-well, coal-bed methane, shallow gas, underground percussive and longhole drilling, surface drill and blast, and related mine services; it also develops data and technology-driven innovation solutions such as cloud-based machine learning tools for core photography analysis and real-time geological decision-making. Founded in 1980 and headquartered in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada, Major Drilling operates field offices and facilities across North America, South America, Australia, Asia, Africa, and Europe, serving junior exploration companies and senior mining operators with a fleet of over 700 drills and approximately 6,000 employees. In November 2024, the company acquired Explomin Perforaciones, a leading Peruvian specialty driller, for up to US$85 million, adding over 100 rigs focused on deep-hole, directional, and high-altitude drilling in Peru, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, and Spain, which expanded its South American presence, diversified revenue with more underground operations, and boosted its rig count while proving immediately accretive; by November 2025, integration advanced with new technologies, safety protocols, and rebranding as a Major Drilling company amid strong regional revenue growth of 11.6% year-over-year in Q4 2025. Recent activities include the renewal of a normal course issuer bid in October 2025 and upcoming release of second fiscal quarter results in December 2025.
