Business
Generalfinance S.p.A. is an Italian financial intermediary specializing in tailored factoring services and specialized credit solutions, with a core focus on financing small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) undergoing financial turnaround, restructuring, or special situation procedures, as well as performing corporate clients across manufacturing, wholesale, logistics, and industrial sectors. Founded in 1982 and headquartered in Milan, Italy, with general management operations based in Biella, the company operates as a registered financial intermediary pursuant to Article 106 of the Italian Banking Act (TUB) and is listed on the Euronext STAR Milan segment of Borsa Italiana. The company delivers a structured portfolio of working capital financing and credit management services through a proprietary digital platform and customized risk-assessment architecture. Its primary products and services include: pro-solvendo (recourse) factoring, facilitating advance working capital against pledged commercial receivables with recourse to the assignor; pro-soluto (non-recourse) factoring, enabling the definitive assignment of trade receivables with full transfer of insolvency and default risk; reverse factoring and supply chain finance arrangements to optimize supplier cash flows; maturity factoring and scheduled payment settlement solutions; specialized debtor-in-possession (DIP) financing and bridge funding tailored to enterprises entering or navigating court-supervised turnaround arrangements, debt restructurings, or composition plans; comprehensive trade receivable administration, including payment tracking, debtor monitoring, and credit recovery services; credit insurance intermediation and coverage integration through institutional credit insurers; and proprietary automated scoring and rating algorithms that assess underlying commercial debtor creditworthiness, performance histories, and legal clawback exposures. In recent developments, Generalfinance S.p.A. has advanced its international geographic expansion and enhanced its capital and operational structures. The company launched its cross-border operations into the Spanish market by opening a branch in Madrid and appointing a dedicated Country Manager to replicate its distressed factoring framework abroad. To support portfolio expansion and diversify its funding base, the company completed a 50 million euro senior unsecured bond private placement due 2028 and executed the early full redemption of its 5 million euro Tier 2 subordinated notes. Additionally, Generalfinance upgraded its digital and transaction processing infrastructure via an Open Finance integration with Fabrick to automate banking reconciliations through application programming interfaces (APIs), introduced updates to its corporate organizational structure, and participated in high-profile collaborative turnaround financing transactions.
