Founded in 1978 and headquartered in Florence, Toscana Aeroporti was formed through the 2015 merger of AdF (Florence Airport) and Società Aeroporto Toscano S.p.A. (Pisa Airport). It operates under two main business segments: aviation and non-aviation services. Toscana Aeroporti is a subsidiary of Corporación América Italia S.p.A. (CAI), itself controlled by Corporación América Airports S.A. (CAAP). In the recent strategic landscape, CAAP increased its indirect shareholding in Toscana Aeroporti by 15.6% in 2025, solidifying its position in the Italian airport market. Toscana Aeroporti is actively executing a long-term development master plan for Florence Airport that includes construction of a new state-of-the-art passenger terminal designed to increase annual passenger capacity to nearly 6 million by 2035, alongside realigning and extending the runway to accommodate modern aircraft. This redevelopment emphasizes sustainability and environmental impact reduction through LEED Platinum certification features such as integrated rooftop vineyards for insulation, solar photovoltaic panels, natural temperature regulation systems, and advanced water and energy efficiency technologies.
