Business
Montero Mining and Exploration Ltd. is a Canada-based mineral exploration and development company focused on the identification, evaluation, acquisition and exploration of gold and copper properties in Chile, with an emphasis on advancing projects through discovery, technical studies and eventual monetization via joint venture, sale or development. Founded in 2006 and headquartered in Vancouver, British Columbia, the company operates through a Chile-focused exploration platform supported by geology-led, data-driven targeting and AI-assisted interpretation. Its core assets include approximately 203 km² of copper-molybdenum exploration concessions in northern Chile’s Atacama region, including the Avispa and Abeja concession areas, as well as optioned gold projects in Chile’s Maricunga Belt, including the Elvira Gold Project and the Potrero Gold Project. Montero’s services and project activities include field geology, geophysics, geochemistry, integrated data analysis, target prioritization, drilling, and mineral property advancement, with exploration teams and administrative operations based in Chile. Recent major developments include the commencement of a Phase 1 diamond drill program at Elvira in May 2026, completion of the initial drill program and a 625.25-metre drillhole there in mid-2026, reporting of geochemical and geochemical vector modelling results in March 2026, announcement of a non-brokered private placement in August 2026, and the October 2025 acquisition of option rights through wholly owned subsidiary Minera Joy SpA to acquire 100% interests in the Elvira and Potrero gold projects. In December 2025, Montero’s common shares began trading on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange under the symbol ES0, and earlier in 2025 the company completed a return of capital to shareholders funded in part by proceeds from its US$27 million settlement with Tanzania relating to the Wigu Hill rare earth project.
