The company serves original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) including Daimler, Navistar, Volvo, PACCAR, and AB Volvo, as well as aftermarket and industrial customers across commercial truck, trailer, bus/coach, military, mining, oil and gas, marine, rail, and specialty vehicle segments. Founded in 1909 and headquartered in Troy, Michigan, Meritor operates manufacturing facilities, engineering centers, joint ventures, distribution centers, and offices in 19 countries. In August 2022, Cummins Inc. completed its $3.7 billion acquisition of Meritor, delisting MTOR from the New York Stock Exchange and integrating its axle, brake, and electrification technologies into Cummins' Components segment to accelerate ePowertrain development, achieve annual pre-tax synergies of approximately $130 million, and support the transition to decarbonized power solutions; post-acquisition, Cummins continues investing in Meritor's brands, leveraging global R&D for aftermarket growth, rapid prototyping, and expanded electrified offerings as of 2025.
