Business
Franklin Multisector Income ETF (MULT) is an actively managed exchange-traded fund that seeks to maximize current income, with a secondary objective of long-term capital appreciation, by investing opportunistically across global fixed income sectors including corporate credit; government and agency securities; securitized debt such as mortgage-backed and asset-backed securities; emerging market bonds; high yield corporates; investment grade corporates; U.S. Treasuries; and bank loans. The fund employs a flexible, research-driven strategy combining bottom-up security selection with macroeconomic analysis to navigate changing market conditions while maintaining disciplined risk management. Managed by Franklin Templeton Fixed Income—a division with over 160 investment professionals worldwide and $224 billion in assets under management as of June 30, 2025—and led by portfolio managers Mike Salm, Patrick Klein, and Albert Chan, MULT trades on the Nasdaq with monthly dividend distributions. Launched on August 26, 2025, by Franklin Templeton, headquartered in San Mateo, California, the ETF represents the firm's expansion of its active ETF lineup amid growing demand for adaptable fixed income strategies in dynamic markets. Franklin Templeton, founded in 1947 as part of Franklin Resources, Inc. (NYSE: BEN), operates globally with over $1.62 trillion in assets under management as of July 31, 2025, serving clients in more than 150 countries through subsidiaries focused on equity, fixed income, alternatives, and multi-asset solutions. MULT is part of Franklin Templeton ETF Trust and complements the firm's broader ETF platform, which includes over 137 funds with more than $47 billion in assets as of August 21, 2025. As a newly established fund with limited operating history and approximately 600,000 shares outstanding, MULT targets income-seeking investors, advisors, and institutions through exposure to a benchmarked portfolio against the Bloomberg US Aggregate Index, with allocations dynamically adjusted across multisector bond categories. No major acquisitions, partnerships, funding rounds, or strategic shifts specific to MULT have been reported since its recent launch in late August 2025.
