Business
Lendlease Group is an integrated multinational real estate and investment company headquartered in Barangaroo, Sydney, Australia, founded in 1958. The company operates primarily through three business segments: Investments, Development, and Construction. Its Investments segment owns and manages diversified investment assets, including residential, office, retail, industrial, retirement, and infrastructure properties. The Development segment focuses on creating mixed-use urban developments, residential apartments, retirement communities, retail and commercial assets, and social and economic infrastructure. The Construction segment has traditionally delivered construction projects, but in recent strategic moves, Lendlease has divested its international construction operations, including the sale of its UK construction business to Atlas Holdings in early 2025 and portions of its US East Coast construction operations to Consigli Building Group in late 2024, to streamline operations and focus on Australian operations and investment management. This strategic pivot includes a plan to exit overseas operations by late 2025, simplify its structure, and reduce costs while strengthening capital allocation toward domestic projects. Lendlease targets markets across Australia, Asia, Europe, and the Americas, aligning its core activities with global urbanization and infrastructure investment trends. Recent major changes include accelerating the divestiture of international construction units, launching capital release initiatives to free over AUD 4.5 billion, and executing new property and infrastructure investment partnerships, such as acquiring a controlling stake in PLQ Mall in Singapore. These moves reflect the company's strategic shift towards focusing on investment management and development within Australia while maintaining a global investment presence. Lendlease continues to serve institutional investors, governments, communities, and private sector clients through its integrated real estate services and investment platforms. This description captures Lendlease's core products and services along with its substantial strategic overhaul in the last two years, emphasizing its operational focus shift to Australia and investment-led growth internationally.
