Business
BTM Resources Berhad is an investment holding company engaged in logging, sawmilling, secondary wood processing, timber trading, and biomass fuel manufacturing. Founded in 1994 and headquartered in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia, the company operates across the downstream and upstream timber value chain through operating subsidiaries such as Besut Tsuda Industries Sendirian Berhad, Besut Tsuda Wood Products Sdn. Bhd., BTM Marketing & Trading Sdn. Bhd., BTM Biomass Products Sdn. Bhd., and BTM Land Sdn. Bhd. The company organizes its activities into three core business segments: Logging and Sawmilling, Manufacturing, and Trading. Its products and service offerings comprise forest harvesting and logging operations; sawmilling services; timber seasoning and kiln-drying operations with an installed multi-chamber drying capacity; sawn timber; commercial and industrial plywood; specialized timber mouldings; finger-jointed timber; lamination boards; and biomass wood pellets manufactured from recycled sawdust and industrial wood waste for power generation and industrial heating. BTM Resources serves domestic clients within Malaysia and exports wood products internationally across the Asia-Pacific, North American, and European markets, including Australia, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, and the United States. In recent developments, BTM Resources underwent significant strategic realignments and operational rationalization. The group discontinued its planned expansion into utility-scale renewable power generation, formally relinquishing its Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA) Feed-in Tariff approvals for a 10-megawatt biomass power plant under BTM Biomass Products Sdn. Bhd. and a 7-megawatt biomass power plant under BTM Land Sdn. Bhd. due to project viability challenges and financing constraints. Following the termination of these energy projects, the company initiated strategic reviews of its industrial land in Kemaman, Terengganu to identify alternative development opportunities. Concurrently, the group advanced balance-sheet restructuring measures, which include proposed disposals of non-core factory premises and plant machinery, reallocation of rights issue proceeds, and a proposed reduction of its issued share capital.
