Business
Global Oriental Berhad is a Malaysia-based investment holding company primarily engaged in property development, construction, car park operations management, and retail trading and distribution. Founded in 1992 and headquartered in Seri Kembangan, Selangor, Malaysia, the company operates primarily across the Malaysian market, focusing on key growth corridors in the Klang Valley as well as Penang, Perak, and Pahang. Global Oriental Berhad structures its operations into five core business divisions: Property Development, comprising the master planning and development of mixed-use integrated townships, high-rise residential condominiums, landed residential properties, commercial shop offices, and retail complexes; Construction, providing civil engineering, building construction, infrastructure development, and project management services primarily supporting group property projects; Car Park Operations, delivering commercial parking facility management, automated parking systems, access control solutions, and parking advisory services; Trading and Distribution, engaged in the wholesale, distribution, and retail of premium homeware, cookware, glassware, and tableware under licensed and distributed brands including Corelle, Pyrex, Visions, CorningWare, and Snapware through department stores, retail outlets, and duty-free centers; and Retail and Lifestyle, operating lifestyle bookstores, food and beverage concepts, and specialty lifestyle retail offerings, including the flagship Tsutaya Books store at Pavilion Bukit Jalil under a joint venture framework with Japan-based Culture Convenience Club and Sojitz Corporation. In recent major corporate developments, the group expanded and diversified its recurrent revenue base into car park management by completing the acquisition of a 55% equity interest in Edisijuta Parking Sdn Bhd in December 2023, followed by the acquisition of the remaining 45% stake for RM22.50 million in 2024 to make Edisijuta Parking a wholly owned subsidiary. Additionally, the company has undertaken strategic portfolio rationalization and asset monetization initiatives, including the disposal of four parcels of freehold land measuring approximately 30.17 acres in Bentong, Pahang, through its subsidiary Sering Manis Sdn Bhd for RM65.00 million cash in 2024, as well as the proposed sale of 18 stratified retail units at Pavilion Embassy in Kuala Lumpur for RM35.00 million in January 2026.
