- Key ASIC Berhad is a Malaysia-based fabless semiconductor company specializing in the turnkey design, development, and manufacturing management of Application-Specific Integrated Circuits (ASIC), System-on-Chip (SoC) solutions, Internet of Things (IoT) devices, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies. Founded in 2005 and headquartered in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia, the company operates primarily through two core business segments: Non-Recurring Engineering (NRE) Services and Recurring Engineering Services. Its operations span research and development facilities in Malaysia and Taiwan, supporting customers across Asia, the Middle East, North America, and Europe through key operating subsidiaries, including Key Asic Semiconductor Sdn. Bhd. and Key Asic Incorporation.
The company provides an extensive portfolio of semiconductor design services, specialized intellectual property (IP), and proprietary hardware and software solutions. Its core offerings include turnkey ASIC and SoC design services encompassing architectural design, system specification, logic design, RTL-to-GDSII physical design, Design for Manufacturing (DFM), and Design for Test (DFT); proprietary silicon-proven IP design blocks, including Phase-Locked Loops (PLLs), high-speed input/output interfaces, and DDR memory controllers; end-to-end manufacturing management and foundry access services, covering wafer fabrication, multi-project wafer (MPW) prototyping, wafer probing, IC packaging, assembly, and reliability qualification; IoT enablers and embedded platforms, including the SPG101 IoT SoC, sensor modules, and IoT development kits for digital home and smart city deployments; wireless data storage and connectivity devices marketed under the Mcard, Kdrive, and Mdrive brand lines, integrating NAND flash storage with Wi-Fi and USB connectivity; and AI-enabled healthcare technologies, including the KeyPATH AI-assisted digital pathology platform for cellular diagnostics, along with the iMedic and RYC digital hospital and mobile electronic medical record (EMR) platforms.
In recent developments, Key ASIC has strategically expanded its presence in artificial intelligence computing infrastructure, specialized automotive chip design, and cross-border commercial alliances. In September 2026, Key ASIC executed a Memorandum of Understanding with Hong Kong-listed CT Vision (International) Holdings Limited to jointly develop an integrated Green AI Data Centre in Malaysia, targeting a total IT capacity of up to 300 MW within five years of commercial deployment with a focus on renewable energy sourcing. In late 2025, the company secured a development contract with a Middle East-based navigation technology provider to engineer an AI-driven, ultra-low-power radio frequency integrated navigation chip slated for tape-out in the third quarter of 2026 for automotive, industrial automation, and IoT markets. Furthermore, Key ASIC established a five-year strategic collaboration agreement with Japan-based NSW Inc. running through October 2029 to co-develop and market integrated ASIC and SoC solutions combining advanced hardware, software, and edge AI technologies.
