- Suria Capital Holdings Berhad is a Malaysia-based investment holding company primarily engaged in port operations, logistics, property development, and engineering services. Founded in 1968 and headquartered in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia, the company operates primarily across the state of Sabah and caters to domestic and international shipping lines, industrial shippers, trading entities, and real estate markets. The company operates through four principal business segments: Port Operations, Logistics and Bunkering Services, Property Development, and Contract and Engineering. Its Port Operations segment, conducted through wholly-owned subsidiary Sabah Ports Sdn. Bhd., manages and operates eight strategic commercial ports across Sabah, comprising Sapangar Bay Container Port, Sapangar Bay Oil Terminal, Kota Kinabalu Port, Sandakan Port, Tawau Port, Lahad Datu Port, Kunak Port, and Kudat Port; core services include container handling and terminal management; stevedoring and transfer services for dry bulk, break-bulk, and liquid bulk cargo; vessel berthing and marine support; as well as container freight station operations, bonded warehousing, open yard storage, and cold storage facilities. The Logistics and Bunkering Services segment provides end-to-end logistics solutions, including freight forwarding; container haulage and road transportation; customs brokerage and cargo clearance; warehousing and distribution management; and marine bunkering and fuel supply services. The Property Development segment develops commercial, residential, and mixed-use urban waterfront projects, including the master-planned Jesselton Quay and Jesselton Waterfront City developments; property leasing and asset management; and tourism-related facilities management, notably the operation of the Jesselton Point Ferry Terminal for passenger transportation and island transfers. The Contract and Engineering segment provides marine, civil, and structural engineering; port maintenance and equipment refurbishment; and construction project management. In recent strategic developments, Suria Capital entered into a landmark strategic partnership with global logistics provider DP World to jointly manage, operate, and modernize the Sapangar Bay Container Port, aiming to establish it as a primary regional transshipment hub for the Brunei-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA). To support this initiative, the company is executing a major multi-phase expansion of Sapangar Bay Container Port to increase container handling capacity from 500,000 TEUs to 1.25 million TEUs through berth extensions and advanced terminal equipment, backed by the state government approval of a 30-year port concession extension running through 2064. Furthermore, the group has expanded its real estate development pipeline through new joint-venture agreements to accelerate the commercialization of prime Kota Kinabalu waterfront land, integrating mixed commercial suites, retail centers, and dedicated cruise terminal facilities.
