Business
Unitrade Industries Berhad is a Malaysia-based investment holding company and one of the country's leading integrated distributors and wholesalers of building materials, specialized in mechanical and electrical (M&E) engineering products, civil engineering supplies, industrial piping solutions, and metal recycling services. Founded in 1979 and headquartered in Shah Alam, Selangor, Malaysia, the company operates across Malaysia and serves mechanical and electrical contractors, civil engineering contractors, industrial fabricators, infrastructure developers, and property builders. The company structures its core business activities into four primary operational segments: Wholesale and Distribution of Building Materials, Manufacturing, Metal Recycling, and Rental Services. In its Wholesale and Distribution segment, the company markets an extensive portfolio exceeding 6,000 stock-keeping units, organized systematically into: pipes, valves, fittings, and accessories, including carbon steel pipes, seamless steel pipes, stainless steel pipes, ductile iron pipes, high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipes, polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and unplasticized PVC (uPVC) pipes, along with gate valves, ball valves, butterfly valves, check valves, globe valves, strainers, flanges, and mechanical couplings; civil and structural engineering materials, including steel reinforcement bars, wire mesh, structural steel beams, hollow sections, steel plates, and cement products; electrical and telecommunications containment systems, including galvanized conduit pipes, cable trays, trunking, and junction boxes; and fire protection systems, including sprinkler heads, fire hose reels, fire hydrants, and grooved piping fittings. Through its Manufacturing division, the company manufactures and fabricates pre-insulated polyurethane (PU) pipes under the proprietary brand name Hi-Therm, tailored for district cooling systems, thermal energy storage, and industrial heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. Through its Metal Recycling segment, the company processes, sorts, and trades ferrous and non-ferrous metal scraps to supply downstream steel mills and foundries. The company also provides rental services comprising modular site cabins, storage containers, and scaffolding equipment for construction sites. In recent corporate and strategic developments, Unitrade Industries Berhad completed the transfer of its listing from the ACE Market to the Main Market of Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad, enhancing its corporate visibility, liquidity, and institutional investor access. Expanding its presence in the circular economy, the company executed the strategic acquisition of a 51 percent majority equity interest in Intergreen Metals Sdn Bhd, one of Malaysia's prominent scrap metal recycling operators, thereby scaling its metal recycling operations and raw material sourcing capabilities. Operationally, the company consolidated its multiple warehousing facilities and corporate operations into a purpose-built, green-certified centralized headquarters and distribution center in Shah Alam, integrating rooftop solar photovoltaic systems and automated inventory handling to optimize supply chain efficiency. Furthermore, the company expanded its specialized pipe fabrication and pre-insulation services to capture surging mechanical and electrical demand generated by data center developments, semiconductor plant expansions, and national water infrastructure rejuvenation projects across Malaysia.
