Business
Nuveen International Growth Fund (NBQFX) is an open-end mutual fund that seeks long-term capital appreciation primarily through investments in equity securities of non-U.S. companies; it normally invests at least 80% of its net assets in such securities issued by small-, mid-, and large-capitalization firms located in developed and emerging markets outside the United States, with up to 30% allocated to emerging market companies. The fund targets growth-oriented issuers demonstrating strong free cash flow generation, market share leadership, innovation-driven expansion, sustainable earnings growth, and performance-focused management teams; it maintains exposure to at least three foreign countries and may include securities from a diversified range of industries and regions worldwide. Launched on April 24, 2009, as part of Nuveen Investment Trust II, the fund is managed by Nuveen, a subsidiary of TIAA with roots tracing back to 1898 and headquartered at 333 West Wacker Drive in Chicago, Illinois. In recent developments, Nuveen has pursued strategic expansions across its broader platform that indirectly support funds like NBQFX, including a September 2025 partnership between Nuveen Private Capital, Hunter Point Capital, and Temasek to enhance global private credit capabilities while maintaining majority ownership and operational continuity. The firm completed the acquisition of Brooklyn Investment Group in June 2025 to bolster direct indexing tools, integrating alternative and income products for enhanced tax efficiency available to advisor clients. Additional initiatives encompass the final close of Nuveen Real Estate's U.S. Strategic Debt Fund at $650 million in December 2025, the launch of a Global Multi-Asset Infrastructure Platform in October 2025 to grow its $340 billion private markets business, and expansions in CLO strategies for wealth alternatives in late 2024 with conversions planned for Q1 2025.
