Business
Smoltek Nanotech Holding AB is a deep-tech and advanced materials company that develops, industrializes, and licenses patented carbon nanotechnology solutions for the semiconductor and renewable energy industries. Founded in 2005 and headquartered in Gothenburg, Sweden, the company operates primarily through three wholly owned subsidiaries: Smoltek AB, which manages research, development, and intellectual property; Smoltek Semi AB, which targets the semiconductor and high-performance computing sectors; and Smoltek Hydrogen AB, which serves the green hydrogen and cleantech markets. Smoltek’s core business centers on its proprietary carbon growth platform, which enables the controlled fabrication of vertically aligned carbon nanofibers on multiple substrate materials to dramatically enhance surface area, electrical conductivity, and thermal characteristics. The company’s core products and technology solutions include: ultra-thin carbon nanofiber metal-insulator-metal (CNF-MIM) capacitors engineered for microchip miniaturization, high-density power distribution, and decoupling in mobile processors and artificial intelligence accelerators; discrete and embedded capacitor components designed to minimize parasitic inductance in advanced semiconductor packaging; porous transport electrodes (PTEs) and catalyst-coated substrates (CCS) for proton exchange membrane (PEM) water electrolyzers, engineered to decrease expensive iridium catalyst requirements by up to 95 percent while sustaining cell efficiency; and technology licensing, process integration, and contract development services for semiconductor fabricators, passive component manufacturers, and electrolyzer OEMs. Smoltek addresses industrial clients and research partners across Europe, North America, and Asia. In recent operational developments, Smoltek Hydrogen advanced its commercialization collaboration with Heraeus Precious Metals by initiating a comprehensive 3,000-hour durability validation test for its ultra-low iridium electrodes and joined the Swedish-German Cleantech Platform to expand its European commercial footprint. In its semiconductor operations, Smoltek Semi progressed its CNF-MIM generational roadmap targeting AI power delivery applications, supported by manufacturing collaboration with the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) in Taiwan and the commissioning of an advanced plasma-enhanced atomic layer deposition (ALD) processing system. Corporately, the company completed an oversubscribed capital raise in mid-2026 generating approximately SEK 82.1 million in gross proceeds to accelerate production ramp-up, enabled secondary share trading on German exchanges and the US OTC market, and instituted leadership changes including the appointments of Oskar Säfström as acting Chief Executive Officer, Emma Rönnmark as Chairperson of the Board, and Gabriel Altby as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer.
