Business
NorZinc Ltd. is a privately held Canadian mining company focused on the development of high-grade zinc-lead-silver deposits, primarily through its 100%-owned Prairie Creek Project located in traditional Dene territory in Canada's Northwest Territories. The Prairie Creek Project features measured and indicated mineral resources of 9.8 million tonnes grading 22.7% zinc equivalent and inferred resources of 6.4 million tonnes grading 24.1% zinc equivalent; it supports a planned 20-year mine life at 2,400 tonnes per day throughput with average annual payable zinc equivalent production of 261 million pounds, alongside production of zinc, lead, and silver concentrates. Founded in 2018 through the rebranding of Canadian Zinc Corporation and headquartered in Vancouver, British Columbia, NorZinc operates exclusively in Canada with established site infrastructure emphasizing responsible mining practices. In December 2022, RCF VI CAD LLC completed its acquisition of NorZinc via a plan of arrangement, taking the company private and delisting its shares from the Toronto Stock Exchange and OTCQB; RCF, which previously held approximately 48% ownership, provided additional US$11 million in amended credit funding to support Prairie Creek advancement. Recent milestones include receipt of final mine permits in 2022, impact benefit agreements with Nahɂą Dehé Dene Band and Łı́ı̨dlı̨ Kų́ę́ First Nation, Natural Resources Canada funding contributions, and in June 2024 a C$25 million federal commitment under the National Trade Corridors Fund for an all-season road to the site, with construction slated to begin in 2025 ahead of targeted production in 2028.
