Incorporated on November 5, 2007 and headquartered in Kolkata, India, with manufacturing operations in Haldia, West Bengal, PCCL operates a 93,744 metric tonnes per annum CPC plant spanning 30 acres, equipped with specialized railway siding, over 60,000 tons raw coke storage and proximity to Haldia port; it functions as a subsidiary of the diversified ATHA Group, which spans mining, power, steel and international projects. In recent developments, PCCL commissioned a 10 MW waste heat recovery boiler (WHRB) captive power plant at its Haldia facility on March 6, 2025 to enhance energy self-sufficiency, reduce costs and support expansions; it received environmental clearance for installing up to 72,000 TPA advanced carbon materials and revamping its 48,000 TPA old carbon paste plant; additionally, its subsidiary entered a partnership in the carbon chemicals business, while the company explores carbon-based recycling opportunities. PCCL maintains a B2B model focused on high-quality CPC production via calcination of refinery residues at 1200-1300 degrees Celsius, with rigorous quality controls, R&D for efficiency and sustainability, and strategic infrastructure for domestic supply.
