Business
Sasini PLC is a Kenya-based agribusiness enterprise engaged in the cultivation, processing, packaging, and marketing of diversified agricultural commodities and horticultural products for domestic and international markets. Founded in 1952 and headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya, the company operates as a member of the Sameer Group and is listed on the Nairobi Securities Exchange. Sasini PLC structures its commercial operations across several core business segments: Tea, comprising the cultivation of green leaf across commercial estates in western Kenya, the manufacture of black CTC and orthodox teas at dedicated processing facilities, warehousing, and value-added retail packaging under the Sasini Tea brand; Coffee, including the farming of Arabica coffee on plantations in central Kenya, commercial coffee milling, sorting, grading, roasting, and marketing services provided to third-party smallholders and cooperative societies through Sasini Coffee Mills; Macadamia Nuts, encompassing commercial cultivation, outgrower sourcing, cracking, grading, vacuum packing, and international export of raw and processed macadamia kernels; and Fresh Produce, focusing on the orchard production, outgrower aggregation, packhouse grading, cold-chain handling, and export of fresh Hass and Fuerte avocados to international markets across Europe and the Middle East. The company also maintains auxiliary activities in commercial forestry, timber harvesting, and livestock. In recent operational and strategic developments, Sasini PLC has accelerated its portfolio diversification to reduce dependence on traditional commodity auction cycles, significantly expanding its avocado and macadamia processing facilities and broadening its outgrower aggregation networks across East Africa. To optimize operational costs and enhance sustainability, the company has completed major grid-tied solar photovoltaic installations across its tea and coffee processing plants, while simultaneously expanding direct export partnerships in Asian, Middle Eastern, and European markets and increasing domestic distribution of its value-added consumer tea and coffee products.
