- Conoil PLC is a Nigeria-based downstream petroleum marketing company engaged in the manufacturing, blending, distribution, and retailing of refined petroleum products, specialty lubricants, and liquefied petroleum gas. The company operates across three primary business segments: White Products, Lubricants, and Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG). Its product and service offerings comprise the marketing and distribution of refined fuels, including Premium Motor Spirit (PMS / petrol), Automotive Gas Oil (AGO / diesel), Dual Purpose Kerosene (DPK), and Low Pour Fuel Oil (LPFO); the supply of Aviation Turbine Kerosene (ATK / Jet A-1) alongside dedicated into-plane refueling, storage, and hydrant services for domestic and international air carriers; the formulation, blending, packaging, and marketing of automotive engine oils, industrial lubricants, heavy-duty transmission fluids, gear oils, hydraulic oils, greases, process oils, and bitumen products marketed under proprietary brand names, including Quatro and Golden Super Motor Oil; the retail and commercial distribution of bulk and cylinder-packaged liquefied petroleum gas under the Congas brand name, including the sale of gas cylinders, valves, and related accessories; and the provision of direct bulk fuel deliveries, commercial fuel management, and technical support services for industrial, agricultural, manufacturing, and transport fleet customers. Conoil PLC operates across Nigeria through an extensive distribution infrastructure comprising a nationwide retail network of more than 500 service stations, inland and coastal petroleum storage terminals, specialized aviation fuel depots at major airports, and modern lubricant blending plants. Originally founded in 1927 as the Shell Company of Nigeria and later incorporated as the National Oil and Chemical Marketing Company (NOLCHEM), the entity was privatized in 2000 when Conpetro Limited, an affiliate of the Mike Adenuga Group, acquired a majority equity stake, subsequently rebranding the business as Conoil PLC in 2003. The company is headquartered in Lagos, Nigeria. In recent operational and strategic developments, Conoil PLC has adapted its downstream distribution model to navigate Nigeria's complete petroleum subsidy deregulation, focusing on working-capital optimization, supply chain efficiency, and margin enhancement. The company has prioritized expanding its high-margin lubricants business through product reformulation and enhanced nationwide retail penetration for its Quatro and Golden Super lubricant brands. In addition, Conoil has modernized retail forecourts with digital dispensing and automated inventory systems, scaled up distribution capacity for its Congas LPG division to capture growing domestic clean-cooking energy demand, and expanded long-term into-plane jet fuel supply agreements with commercial airlines to reinforce its position in the aviation fueling market.
