Business
May & Baker Nigeria Plc is a Nigeria-based healthcare and pharmaceutical manufacturing company engaged in the development, production, marketing, and distribution of human pharmaceuticals, consumer health products, industrial packaging, and packaged beverages. Founded in 1944 as Nigeria's first pharmaceutical manufacturing company and headquartered in Ikeja, Lagos State, the company operates across Nigeria and the broader West African region. May & Baker Nigeria Plc operates primarily through two commercial divisions: Pharmaceuticals and Beverages. The company's pharmaceutical portfolio encompasses a wide range of therapeutic categories, including analgesics and anti-inflammatory formulations such as M&B Paracetamol and M&B Ibuprofen; antimalarials and anti-infectives including Artelum, Loxaclav, and M&B Cipro; cardiovascular, metabolic, and chronic care medications including Diamet, Cardovasc, Co-Mepiryl, and Beta-Lipid; central nervous system therapeutics such as Bromatan; specialized herbal preparations including Roveda; and health supplements including Multamin-Plus. Its consumer segment manufactures and distributes purified bottled water under the Lily Table Water brand. In addition, the company provides third-party contract manufacturing, pharmaceutical packaging through its subsidiary Tydipacks Nigeria Limited, and medical device and pharmaceutical marketing and distribution via Osworth Nigeria Limited and Servisure Nigeria Limited. Manufacturing operations are anchored at its World Health Organization (WHO) cGMP-compliant PharmaCentre in Ota, Ogun State, alongside specialized herbal manufacturing lines. In recent corporate developments, May & Baker Nigeria Plc has broadened its portfolio into wellness, metabolic care, and herbal therapeutics through the commercial launch of products such as Multamin-Plus, Beta-Lipid, and Roveda. To expand production footprint and regional market access, the company has initiated plans for a new manufacturing facility in Anambra State to complement its Ota complex. Furthermore, the company continues to progress its public-private joint venture with the Federal Government of Nigeria through Biovaccines Nigeria Limited to establish domestic vaccine manufacturing capabilities, while executing infrastructure and energy-efficiency modernization programs at its production hubs to mitigate rising industrial operating costs.
