- Transnational Corporation Plc is a diversified conglomerate based in Nigeria that operates primarily across the power generation, hospitality, and energy sectors. Founded in 2004 and headquartered in Lagos, Nigeria, the company functions through several operating subsidiaries, including Transcorp Power Plc, Transafam Power Limited, Transcorp Hotels Plc, and Transcorp Energy Limited, serving public utilities, industrial off-takers, corporate organizations, and retail consumers across West Africa.
The group provides a comprehensive portfolio of products and services organized into three primary business divisions: Power Generation, Hospitality, and Energy. Within its Power division, the company delivers utility-scale electricity generation and wholesale power evacuation to the national grid via the Transmission Company of Nigeria; provides bilateral electricity supply contracts to commercial and industrial consumers as well as distribution companies; and operates major thermal generating assets, including the 972-megawatt Ughelli Power Plant in Delta State and the 966-megawatt Afam Power Plant complex in Rivers State. Within its Hospitality division, managed through Transcorp Hotels Plc, the company offers luxury hospitality accommodations, fine dining, and leisure services through its flagship Transcorp Hilton Abuja and Transcorp Hotels Calabar properties; provides meeting, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions infrastructure through a 5,000-capacity multipurpose event center in Abuja; and delivers online accommodation and lifestyle booking services through its proprietary digital booking platform, Aura by Transcorp Hotels. Within its Energy division, via Transcorp Energy Limited, the group engages in upstream petroleum exploration, appraisal, and field development activities covering Oil Prospecting License 281; provides gas-to-power integration services; and develops dedicated natural gas supply infrastructure to supply feedstock to thermal power generation facilities.
Recent major corporate developments include the separate listing of subsidiary Transcorp Power Plc by introduction on the Nigerian Exchange, significantly expanding public market capitalization and shareholder participation. The group has advanced its power generation footprint through the ongoing rehabilitation and operational ramp-up of the Afam GenCo assets, elevating Transcorp's aggregate available generation capacity across its portfolio. In the hospitality segment, Transcorp Hotels completed and launched its 5,000-seat multi-use event facility at Transcorp Hilton Abuja and commenced development of a new 315-room five-star luxury hotel in Ikoyi, Lagos, while expanding listings on the Aura digital marketplace platform. In addition, the conglomerate crossed the one trillion Nigerian naira milestone in total assets, supported by expansion into bilateral electricity contracting and heightened commercial operations across its asset base.
