- Nordic Halibut AS (NOHAL.OL) is a Norway-based producer, processor and seller of farmed Atlantic halibut products worldwide. The company operates a fully integrated value chain encompassing genetics, broodstock and fry production, juvenile production, on-growing, grow-out, harvesting, processing and sales; it offers fresh, frozen, whole and filleted halibut products noted for sushi-grade quality, firm texture and sustainable production. Founded in 1995 and headquartered in Averøy, Møre og Romsdal, Norway, Nordic Halibut targets premium markets including culinary, sushi and sashimi sectors with operations centered in Western Norway.
The company pursues organic growth through expanded production volumes, with targets of 4,500 tonnes head-on-gutted (HOG) by 2027 and 10,350 tonnes HOG by 2031 via improved early-phase biology and operational efficiencies. In March 2025, Nordic Halibut entered a strategic agreement with Pure Norwegian Seafood AS (PNS), a Masoval AS subsidiary, securing long-term access to high-quality processing facilities in Averøy featuring flexible production lines, sanitary slaughtering and freezing capabilities, alongside an option to acquire 100% of PNS shares for full value-chain control. In February 2025, the company announced a final investment decision for its new Tingvoll land-based facility in Torjulvågen, integrating all production phases in a 100% flow-through system tailored for halibut to produce 1 million juveniles annually, leveraging deep fjord waters for energy-efficient operations and serving as a center for R&D and competence development. These initiatives support ramp-up plans, regional job creation and sustainable profitable growth amid a breakthrough in early-phase production.
