ALS maintains approximately 350 laboratory and operational sites across Africa, Asia Pacific, Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, and the United States, serving diverse clients including mining companies, pharmaceutical firms, food producers, and industrial operators. Founded as Australian Laboratory Services in 1974 and acquired in 1981 by Campbell Brothers (now ALS Limited, listed on the ASX since 1952), the company is headquartered in Brisbane, Australia. In 2024, ALS completed the acquisition of Europe-based Wessling Holding GmbH & Co. KG, adding around 1,200 employees and expanding its Life Sciences footprint, particularly in environmental, food, and pharmaceutical testing markets in Germany and France; it also acquired Northeast USA-based York Analytical Laboratories to bolster its North American operations.
