Business
Onward Medical N.V. is a medical technology company specializing in developing and commercializing innovative therapies to restore movement, function, and independence in people with spinal cord injury (SCI) and other movement disabilities. The company offers its core products and services through technology platforms based on ARC Therapy, which delivers targeted, programmed electrical stimulation of the spinal cord. This therapy is provided via the external ARC-EX® System designed to enhance hand strength and sensation, the implantable ARC-IM® System targeting blood pressure instability and other symptoms, and the ARC-BCI™ platform, which integrates brain-computer interface technology for thought-driven movement restoration. Onward Medical operates across multiple regions including France, Germany, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, supported by academic and clinical partnerships. Founded in 2014, the company is headquartered in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, and maintains a Science and Engineering Center in Lausanne, Switzerland. Recent major developments include a successful private placement in October 2025 raising over EUR 50 million to advance commercial activities for the ARC-EX System and to prepare the global pivotal Empower BP study for the implantable ARC-IM System. The ARC-EX System received FDA 510(k) clearance for home use in the U.S., expanding its market opportunity, while the ARC-IM System received an FDA Investigational Device Exemption to initiate the Empower BP pivotal clinical trial targeting blood pressure instability after SCI. In Q3 2025, the company sold 40 ARC-EX Systems and achieved revenue exceeding EUR 1 million for the first time, alongside progress in clinical feasibility studies and scientific publications highlighting therapeutic advances. ONWARD Medical’s technology continues to be recognized with multiple FDA Breakthrough Device Designations, underscoring its leadership in spinal cord injury neurotechnology and therapy innovation.
