In January 2024, Velocys completed a take-private transaction valued at approximately £4.1 million by a consortium including funds advised by Lightrock, Carbon Direct Capital, GenZero, and Kibo Investments, securing US$40 million in growth capital to advance projects such as Bayou Fuels in the United States and Altalto Immingham in the United Kingdom; the company changed its name from Velocys plc to Velocys Limited in December 2024, suspended AIM trading, and shifted to private status while progressing Altalto with British Airways, securing UK government grants including up to £27 million from the Advanced Fuels Fund in 2022 and additional funding in September 2025 to integrate NEXTCHEM gasification technology toward a final investment decision and construction start in 2025; recent partnerships include a July 2025 memorandum of understanding with Sekisui Chemical for e-SAF production technology and a January 2025 collaboration with Bechtel for global SAF project delivery solutions.
