Victory Pioneer Bond Fund Class R6 (PBFKX) is an open-end fixed income mutual fund that seeks current income and total return by investing primarily in debt securities. The fund normally invests at least 80% of its net assets in debt securities issued or guaranteed by the U.S. government, its agencies and instrumentalities, including U.S. Treasury obligations such as bills, bonds and notes; investment grade debt securities, including convertible debt, of corporate or other issuers; and cash, cash equivalents and other short-term holdings rated BBB or higher by S&P. It may allocate a substantial portion of its assets to mortgage-related securities, including commercial mortgage-backed securities, collateralized mortgage obligations, credit risk transfer securities and sub-prime mortgages; asset-backed securities; and investment grade corporate bonds, with additional exposure to non-U.S. bonds, cash equivalents and agency mortgage-backed securities. The fund employs a combination of fundamental and quantitative analysis, utilizing top-down and bottom-up securities selection with emphasis on economic factors, issuer-specific attributes, yield, liquidity, credit quality ratings, and diversification across sectors and issuers. Key portfolio allocations include corporate bonds (approximately 33%), agency mortgage-backed securities (30%), asset-backed securities (13%), government securities (11%) and cash equivalents (7-10%), with top holdings featuring U.S. Treasury notes, bonds and bills alongside repurchase agreements. Managed by a team including Kenneth Taubes (since 1998), Bradley Komenda (since 2018), Timothy Rowe (lead manager since 2018) and Jonathan Scott (since 2021), the fund benchmarks against the Bloomberg US Aggregate Bond Index and maintains a portfolio of approximately 1,447 bond holdings and 35 other holdings, with total net assets exceeding $4.9 billion across share classes. Victory Pioneer Bond Fund operates within the intermediate core-plus bond category, targeting institutional investors with a minimum initial investment of $5 million for the R6 share class, and features a net expense ratio of 0.36% alongside a TTM yield of approximately 4-5% and effective duration of 7 years. The fund is part of the Pioneer Investments franchise, originally launched on October 31, 1978 (with the R6 share class introduced December 20, 2012), and is domiciled in the United States with primary operations under Victory Capital Management Inc., headquartered at 15935 La Cantera Parkway, Building Two, San Antonio, Texas. In a major strategic development, Pioneer Investments, the fund's managing entity (formerly Amundi US), was acquired by Victory Capital Holdings Inc. in a transaction closed on March 31, 2025, as part of a broader partnership with Amundi that reintroduced the historic Pioneer Investments brand and boosted Victory Capital's assets under management to over $300 billion. This acquisition, announced in 2024 and finalized in 2025, generated immediate expense synergies of approximately $70 million toward a $110 million target, enhanced global distribution through 15-year reciprocal agreements with Amundi, and supported Victory Capital's launch of new active ETFs, including the VictoryShares Pioneer Asset-Based Income ETF in June 2025. The integration has strengthened the fund's management resources, incorporating expertise from Calvert, Eaton Vance and Morgan Stanley fixed-income teams while maintaining the strategy's disciplined credit selection and sector rotation approach.
