Business
Precision Castparts Corp. (PCC) manufactures complex metal components and products for the aerospace, power generation, oil & gas, and general industrial markets. The company produces large, complex structural investment castings, airfoil castings, forged components, aerostructures, and highly engineered critical fasteners for aerospace applications; extruded seamless pipe, fittings, forgings, and clad products for power generation and oil & gas; commercial and military airframe aerostructures; and metal alloys including titanium and superalloys for casting and forging industries. PCC operates through four principal segments: Investment Cast Products (including PCC Structurals, PCC Airfoils, and PCC Energy Group), Forged Products (including Wyman-Gordon), Airframe Products (including PCC Fasteners and PCC Aerostructures), and Metals Products (including Special Metals Corp. and Titanium Metals Corp.). Founded in 1953 and headquartered in Lake Oswego, Oregon, PCC maintains over 120 production facilities worldwide, employing approximately 20,000 people across the United States, Europe, and other regions. A wholly owned subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway since its $37.2 billion acquisition in 2016, PCC continues to pursue strategic growth through selective acquisitions. In recent years, PCC strengthened its aerospace capabilities via the acquisition of SKF's metallic rods operations in France and the United States; reported robust financial recovery in 2024 with pre-pandemic earnings levels; and advanced portfolio optimization under Berkshire Hathaway ownership, including business acquisitions in 2023 and 2024 to enhance manufacturing efficiencies.
