Business
Piramal Finance Limited is a non-banking financial company that provides retail and wholesale lending solutions, with core offerings spanning home loans, loans against property, business loans, personal loans, secured business loans, used car loans, loans against securities; and related insurance services. Founded in 1984 and headquartered in Mumbai, India, the company serves individual customers, self-employed borrowers, small and medium enterprises, and other credit customers across India through a diversified financial services platform. Its business has evolved from housing finance into a broader credit franchise, and it operates within the consumer finance and commercial lending segments. The company is part of the Piramal group and, following the merger of Piramal Enterprises Limited into Piramal Finance, now serves as the listed financial services vehicle of the group. Piramal Finance has undergone several major strategic and operational changes in the last 1-2 years, including a name change from Piramal Capital & Housing Finance Limited to Piramal Finance Limited effective March 22, 2025; a regulatory transition from housing finance company status to NBFC-Investment and Credit Company classification; and the completion of the PEL-PFL merger approved by the NCLT in September 2025. The company also expanded its lending footprint through a co-lending partnership with ICICI Bank, monetized its Shriram Life Insurance stake for ₹600 crore, and announced a series of large funding initiatives, including a ₹3,850 crore capital raise backed by QIP participation and promoter warrants, USD 400 million in ECB financing, and USD 350 million from IFC and ADB. In addition, Piramal Finance crossed ₹1 lakh crore in AUM in 2026, while also pursuing further balance sheet and subsidiary consolidation actions and receiving multiple rating upgrades from leading agencies.
