Business
PETRONAS Gas Berhad operates as Malaysia's leading gas infrastructure and centralized utilities company. It is primarily engaged in the processing of natural gas by separating it into its components such as sales gas, ethane, propane, and butane; transportation of processed gas to end customers; regasification of liquefied natural gas (LNG); and provision of LNG reloading, truck loading, and cooling services. The company operates through four main divisions: Gas Processing, Gas Transportation, Regasification, and Utilities, supporting industrial gas supply and operations and maintenance services. Founded in 1983 and headquartered in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, PETRONAS Gas Berhad is a subsidiary of Petroliam Nasional Berhad (Petronas) and is listed on Bursa Malaysia. In recent developments, PETRONAS Gas Berhad has embarked on multiple major projects including LNG storage expansion in Pengerang, a cold energy air separation unit, and the Sipitang power plant, reflecting strategic expansions in gas infrastructure and power solutions. Additionally, PETRONAS as a group has strengthened its strategic partnerships and collaborations, including new joint ventures with major global energy firms like Eni and TotalEnergies, aimed at enhancing upstream oil and gas assets in Malaysia and Indonesia and boosting regional gas production and infrastructure. The group also signed technical agreements to expand hydrocarbon exploration and development across Malaysia, reinforcing its regional energy footprint. Furthermore, PETRONAS Gas Berhad continues to advance its operational efficiency, achieving high operational equipment effectiveness and fulfilling 100% of customer gas demand despite supply volatility. The company targets industrial, commercial, and utility markets primarily in Malaysia, with strategic regional engagement in Southeast Asia through its parent Petronas. PETRONAS Gas Berhad holds a strong position in natural gas infrastructure, focusing on integrated gas value chain services, and recent efforts emphasize sustainability and technological advancement including AI technologies in exploration and expanded LNG-related services. It maintains a comprehensive portfolio that supports Malaysia’s energy security and industrial growth, delivering reliable gas supply and utility services to a diverse customer base within Malaysia and participating in regional energy projects through its parent group.
