- The Bank of Khyber is a scheduled commercial bank based in Pakistan that provides a comprehensive range of conventional banking, Islamic banking, treasury, and commercial financial services to individual, corporate, agricultural, and institutional clients. Established in 1991 and headquartered in Peshawar, Pakistan, the bank operates as a provincial government-owned financial institution with the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa serving as its majority shareholder. The bank conducts its operations nationwide across Pakistan through an extensive network of more than 280 conventional and dedicated Islamic banking branches and sub-branches, as well as automated teller machines and digital banking platforms.
The company operates across four principal business segments: Corporate Finance, Trading and Sales, Retail Banking, and Commercial Banking. Its product and service portfolio comprises: retail deposit solutions, including current accounts, basic banking accounts, savings accounts, and fixed-term deposit receipts; consumer credit facilities, including personal loans, home mortgages, and auto financing; Shariah-compliant banking services marketed under the Raast Islamic Banking brand, which includes Islamic current and saving deposits, Murabaha financing, Diminishing Musharakah, Ijarah leasing, Salam, and Istisna facilities; corporate and investment banking products, including project financing, syndicated loans, structured finance, working capital facilities, letters of credit, bank guarantees, equity and debt underwriting, and financial advisory; small and medium enterprise (SME) and agricultural financing, including crop production loans, farm equipment financing, and government-subsidized credit initiatives; treasury and capital market operations, including foreign exchange trading, fixed income securities, money market transactions, liquidity management, and equity investments; and transaction banking and digital solutions, comprising debit cards, mobile banking applications, internet banking, utility bill payment processing, payroll administration, and domestic and international remittance handling.
In recent developments, The Bank of Khyber has accelerated its strategic transition toward operating as a full-fledged Shariah-compliant Islamic banking institution, systematically converting conventional branch locations to Islamic banking operations. The bank entered into a strategic alliance with Mastercard to modernize and expand its payment card ecosystem, introducing enhanced debit, credit, and premium card products while driving merchant digitization. In addition, the bank partnered with Kuickpay to deploy Point-of-Sale (POS) merchant acquiring services, strengthening retail digital payment acceptance. The bank has also expanded its integration with the State Bank of Pakistan's Raast instant payment platform to support provincial digital governance initiatives, facilitating real-time government-to-person (G2P) and person-to-government (P2G) payments, including public sector salary and pension disbursements. To broaden its consumer transaction services, the bank introduced the BOK KorPay home remittance service and executed upgrades across its retail mobile and digital banking infrastructure.
