Business
Lalpir Limited is a Pakistan-based independent power producer engaged in the generation, transmission, and supply of electricity. Founded in 1994 and headquartered in Lahore, Pakistan, the company operates as a key energy enterprise within the Nishat Group conglomerate. Lalpir Limited owns, operates, and maintains an oil-fired thermal power generation facility located in Mehmood Kot, District Muzaffargarh, Punjab, Pakistan, featuring a gross installed capacity of approximately 362 megawatts (MW) and a net dependable capacity of 350 MW. The company provides a comprehensive range of utility-scale power generation and energy infrastructure services, including: thermal electric power generation utilizing residual fuel oil (RFO); wholesale electricity supply and high-voltage grid dispatch to national utility off-takers; thermal power plant operations, preventive maintenance, and asset management services; high-voltage electrical substation operations and grid interconnection support; and specialized fuel logistics, including bulk heavy fuel oil storage, handling, and quality management. Historically operating as a dedicated single-buyer power generator, the company delivered electricity to the national grid through the Central Power Purchasing Agency (Guarantee) Limited (CPPA-G). In recent major developments, the company completed a formal corporate rebranding and name change from Lalpir Power Limited to Lalpir Limited to reflect an expanded commercial scope beyond conventional power generation. Additionally, as part of Pakistan's broader energy sector reforms, the company concluded a mutual settlement and early termination agreement with the Government of Pakistan and CPPA-G regarding its long-term sovereign Power Purchase Agreement under the 1994 Power Policy. Following this operational transition, Lalpir Limited is actively realigning its business model to pursue direct power sales under the Competitive Trading Bilateral Contract Market (CTBCM) framework, expand into commercial and industrial (C&I) energy solutions, and evaluate investments in renewable energy and hybrid solar power assets.
