Business
Mughal Iron & Steel Industries Limited is a Pakistan-based manufacturer and distributor of ferrous and non-ferrous metal products, as well as an operator of captive power generation facilities. Founded in 1950 and headquartered in Lahore, Pakistan, the company operates across two principal business divisions: Ferrous and Non-Ferrous. Its core ferrous product portfolio encompasses deformed steel bars and thermo-mechanically treated reinforcement bars marketed under the Mughal Supreme brand; prime quality steel billets in mild carbon, spring steel, stainless steel, and alloy grades; structural steel sections including I-beams, H-beams, C-channels, equal and unequal angle sections, T-bars, and girders; and metallurgical additives comprising ferro silicon, ferro silicomanganese, and ferro chrome, serving civil infrastructure, commercial construction, residential housing, and industrial manufacturing markets. Its non-ferrous segment processes and refines metallic scrap into copper ingots, continuous cast rods, and copper granules, primarily for international export markets including China. The company operates manufacturing and re-rolling facilities in the Punjab province of Pakistan and oversees a wholly owned energy subsidiary, Mughal Energy Limited. In recent operational and strategic developments, Mughal Iron & Steel Industries has undertaken a Balancing, Modernization, and Replacement program across its bar re-rolling infrastructure to facilitate the concurrent manufacturing of rebars and structural mini-sections, increasing operational flexibility and plant throughput. Additionally, the company has completed construction and testing of a 36.5-megawatt captive power plant through Mughal Energy Limited to lower energy costs and ensure power supply self-sufficiency, recalibrated its automated copper recycling facilities to adapt to global commodity market dynamics, and secured long-term capital financing through Sukuk issuances to fund ongoing modernization and working capital requirements.
