Business
Nishat Chunian Power Limited is a Pakistan-based independent power producer engaged in the generation and transmission of electric power. The company owns, operates, and maintains a 200-megawatt gross capacity (195.722-megawatt net capacity) combined-cycle thermal power generation facility located at Jamber Kalan, Kasur District, Punjab. Its core operations and infrastructure portfolio comprise bulk electric power generation; operation of 11 Wärtsilä 18V46 reciprocating engine generator sets integrated with heat recovery steam generators; utilization of a 19.8-megawatt steam turbine generator unit; fuel storage, treatment, and handling systems utilizing residual furnace oil as primary fuel and high-speed diesel as auxiliary backup; high-voltage switchyard and transformer operations; and continuous electricity evacuation into Pakistan's national transmission network for wholesale supply to the Central Power Purchasing Agency (Guarantee) Limited. Founded in 2007 under the Government of Pakistan's Power Generation Policy 2002, the company commenced commercial operations in July 2010 and maintains its corporate headquarters in Lahore, Pakistan. In recent corporate and operational developments, the company executed a binding tariff and contract amendment agreement with state power authorities in early 2025, transitioning its compensation framework to a hybrid take-and-pay tariff model effective November 2024 pursuant to federal power sector restructuring initiatives. The revised framework includes capped insurance allowances, settlement of historical profit-sharing balances against circular debt receivables, and the realignment of dispute resolution terms under domestic arbitration. The company operates as an independent public limited entity listed on the Pakistan Stock Exchange following the distribution and divestment of shareholding by its former parent company, Nishat Chunian Limited.
