Business
Wasl Mobility Modaraba, formerly known as First Prudential Modaraba, is a Pakistan-based multipurpose and perpetual Islamic financial institution engaged in the provision of Shariah-compliant financing, leasing, and mobility-focused capital solutions. The company provides a diversified suite of Islamic financial products and services, including Ijarah (leasing) facilities for passenger motor vehicles, commercial transport fleets, and industrial equipment; electric vehicle (EV) financing and sustainable mobility solutions, comprising two-wheeler, three-wheeler electric rickshaw, and commercial fleet conversion financing; Murabaha (cost-plus-profit) facilities for corporate working capital, trade finance, and inventory procurement; Musharika and Diminishing Musharika (profit-and-loss sharing partnerships) for fixed-asset acquisition, project financing, and real estate development; Istisna, Salam, and Wakala financing structures; syndicated financing and leveraged leasing; underwriting of public share offerings; and deployment of funds in Shariah-compliant capital market securities. The entity serves corporate clients, commercial enterprises, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and retail consumers across Pakistan. Founded in 1989 and headquartered in Lahore, Pakistan, with an executive office in Karachi, the company is managed by Wasl Modaraba Management Limited (formerly Awwal Modaraba Management Limited, a subsidiary of Pak Brunei Investment Company Limited). In 2025, the institution underwent a major strategic repositioning and corporate reorganization, officially rebranding from First Prudential Modaraba to Wasl Mobility Modaraba and changing its ticker symbol on the Pakistan Stock Exchange from PMI to WASL. Under this new strategic direction, the company has pivoted its core operational focus toward the green mobility and transportation technology ecosystem, introducing dedicated financing lines for zero-emission vehicles, establishing strategic partnerships for urban electric mobility infrastructure, and executing capital restructuring through rights issues to expand its nationwide vehicle and asset lease portfolios.
