Business
First Trust Exchange-Traded Fund VIII – FT Vest Nasdaq-100 Conservative Buffer ETF – January is a non-diversified, actively managed exchange-traded fund that seeks to provide investment results, before fees and expenses, corresponding to the share-price return of the Invesco QQQ Trust, Series 1, up to a predetermined upside cap, while seeking to buffer a specified portion of losses over an approximately one-year outcome period beginning in January. The fund primarily invests substantially all of its assets in Flexible Exchange Options (FLEX Options) referencing Invesco QQQ Trust, Series 1, together with cash, cash equivalents and other collateral investments. Its principal offering is a defined-outcome Nasdaq-100 investment strategy designed for investors seeking exposure to the Nasdaq-100 Index through QQQ while accepting a capped upside return in exchange for downside protection over the applicable outcome period. The fund’s options positions are structured to seek protection against the first 20% of underlying QQQ losses, before fees and expenses, during the outcome period, while limiting participation in gains above the stated cap; investors purchasing or selling shares after the beginning of an outcome period may experience different buffer protection and upside-cap results. QCJA is listed and traded in the United States and is intended for retail and institutional investors, financial advisers and other market participants seeking risk-managed equity exposure. The fund commenced operations in January 2025 and is a series of First Trust Exchange-Traded Fund VIII, an open-end management investment company sponsored by First Trust Advisors L.P., which is headquartered in Wheaton, Illinois. Recent operational developments include the January 2026 reset of QCJA’s annual outcome period, establishing a new period running from January 20, 2026 through January 15, 2027, with an indicated downside buffer of approximately 11.18% and upside cap of approximately 19.10% as of the reset date; the fund continues to be offered as part of First Trust’s FT Vest Buffer Series of defined-outcome ETFs.
