Business
Nuveen Nasdaq 100 Dynamic Overwrite Fund (QQQX) is a closed-end management investment company that seeks attractive total return with less volatility than the Nasdaq 100 Index through a dynamic covered call overwrite strategy. The Fund invests substantially all of its managed assets in a U.S. equity portfolio designed to replicate the price movements of the Nasdaq 100 Index, comprising large-cap stocks primarily in technology, consumer services, healthcare, and industrial sectors; it sells call options on 35%-75% of the notional value of its equity portfolio, targeting a long-term overwrite of 55%, to generate premium income and enhance risk-adjusted returns while considering tax efficiency to improve after-tax shareholder outcomes. It may also allocate to U.S. Treasury securities, corporate debt, and derivatives for liquidity and duration management, providing regular monthly distributions to shareholders. The Fund trades on the Nasdaq Stock Market, offering daily liquidity at market prices, and targets individual and institutional investors seeking income-oriented exposure to Nasdaq 100 equities with downside protection from option premiums. Originally formed on January 30, 2007, as NASDAQ Premium Income & Growth Fund Inc. and later renamed, it is managed by Nuveen Fund Advisors, LLC, with portfolio managers including Philip James (Jim) Campagna, Nazar Suschko, Darren Tran, Nazar Romanyak, and David A. Friar; it is headquartered in Chicago, Illinois. In a recent development effective May 30, 2025, Nazar Suschko joined the portfolio management team alongside David Friar, Jim Campagna, Darren Tran, and Nazar Romanyak, without altering the Fund's investment strategy. The Fund continues to emphasize its core options overlay on Nasdaq 100 replication, with top holdings including Alphabet Inc., Broadcom Inc., and Tesla Inc., and maintains operations focused on the U.S. market.
