Business
QLM Life & Medical Insurance Company QPSC is a Qatar-based insurance and reinsurance provider specializing in medical and life underwriting solutions for institutional, corporate, and individual clients. Founded in 2011 and headquartered in Doha, Qatar, the company operates as a key publicly traded subsidiary of Qatar Insurance Group (QIC Group) and is listed on the Qatar Stock Exchange under the ticker QLMI. The company operates primarily within the life and health insurance sectors across Qatar and the wider Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region, including the United Arab Emirates, Oman, and Kuwait, while maintaining a global healthcare network of more than 75,000 medical providers across over 100 countries. The company's core product and service portfolio comprises two primary business segments: Medical Insurance and Life Insurance. Its medical insurance offerings include group health insurance solutions customized for small, medium, and large corporations under tiered coverage tiers such as Optimum, Affinity, Privilege, and Prestige; individual and family medical health plans; mandatory visitor health insurance schemes compliant with regional regulatory requirements; and specialized senior citizen medical covers, encompassing inpatient treatment, outpatient consultations, diagnostic testing, surgical procedures, maternity care, and prescription medication management. Its life insurance offerings include group term life; group credit life insurance tailored for commercial banks and financing institutions to secure credit facilities; individual life and financial protection policies; personal accident insurance; total and partial permanent disability coverage; and supplemental benefits such as critical illness and repatriation of mortal remains. In addition, the company provides direct billing administration, healthcare concierge services, emergency medical assistance, and third-party administrative support. In recent developments, QLM Life & Medical Insurance Company entered into a strategic collaboration with UnitedHealthcare Global to expand cross-border health benefits and international medical cover for multinational corporate clients, expatriates, and high-net-worth individuals. To support Qatar's mandatory health insurance framework, the company expanded its digital retail platform to provide instant issuance of mandatory visitor and residency insurance policies. Operationally, the firm has accelerated its digital transformation strategy by deploying automated paperless claims submission channels with direct bank transfer settlement for reimbursements, while actively scaling its underwriting and reinsurance footprint across GCC markets including the UAE, Oman, and Kuwait.
