Global X Solar ETF (NASDAQ: RAYS) is an exchange-traded fund that seeks to provide investment results corresponding generally to the price and yield performance, before fees and expenses, of the Solactive Solar Index. The fund employs a full replication technique to track the index, which includes up to 50 global companies deriving at least 50% of revenues from solar activities such as solar energy materials, solar energy systems and components, solar power production, solar technology, and solar power installation, integration, and maintenance; top holdings as of August 2025 include Sungrow Power Supply Co., Ltd. (10.71%), First Solar, Inc. (8.29%), LONGi Green Energy Technology Co., Ltd. (7.93%), Nextracker Inc. (7.56%), and Enphase Energy, Inc. (4.99%). Launched on September 8, 2021 and managed by Global X Management Company LLC, headquartered at 605 Third Avenue, 43rd Floor, New York, NY 10158, the ETF targets growth and value stocks across diversified market capitalizations in the renewable energy sector, with a focus on socially conscious firms compliant with UN Global Compact principles; its portfolio spans regions including the United States, China, and Europe, with sector allocations led by information technology (45.8%), industrials (34.8%), and materials (6.9%). In July 2025, Global X announced the scheduled liquidation of RAYS and certain other low-asset funds representing less than 0.2% of the firm's total assets under management, with the delisting effective August 25, 2025 following board approval on July 31, 2025, amid ongoing platform evolution that saw the firm surpass $60 billion in AUM earlier in 2025; this operational change aligns with broader product updates, including new ETF launches like the Global X Gold Miners ETF (AUAU) in December 2025. The ETF, part of Global X's thematic growth suite—the largest such issuer globally—caters to investors seeking exposure to solar technology advancements and environmental responsibility.
