Business
Direxion FTSE Russell International Over US ETF (RWIU) is an exchange-traded fund that seeks daily investment results, before fees and expenses, of 150% of the daily performance of the FTSE Russell International Over US Index. The fund provides leveraged exposure to developed and emerging market companies outside the United States whose market capitalization exceeds that of the largest US company at the time of index reconstitution; it invests at least 80% of its net assets in financial instruments, such as swap agreements, securities of the index, and ETFs that track the index, along with holding US Treasuries or similar instruments as collateral. RWIU offers investors amplified returns tied to international equities outperforming the US market leader, targeting sophisticated traders focused on short-term directional bets in global markets. Operated by Direxion Shares ETF Trust, a subsidiary of Rafferty Asset Management, LLC, the fund was launched in 2025 and is domiciled in the United States with primary listing on the NYSE Arca exchange. It primarily serves retail and institutional investors seeking leveraged international equity strategies; geographic exposure spans developed markets in Europe, Japan, and the Pacific, as well as emerging markets in Asia, Latin America, and other regions, excluding the US. The underlying index reconstitutes semi-annually in March and September, selecting the top international companies by float-adjusted market cap relative to the US benchmark. In recent developments, Direxion expanded its leveraged ETF suite with the launch of RWIU in early 2025, alongside complementary products like the Direxion Daily FTSE Russell International Under US ETF (ticker: RWID), to capture demand for asymmetric international vs. US performance strategies amid ongoing global market rotations. No major acquisitions, partnerships, or reorganizations have been reported for the fund or its sponsor in the past 1-2 years; Direxion continues to focus on product innovation in single-stock, sector, and thematic leveraged ETFs without significant operational shifts.
