Business
SAB Biotherapeutics, Inc. (Nasdaq: SABS; SABSW) is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company that develops fully human polyclonal immunotherapeutic antibodies using its proprietary DiversitAb platform, which leverages transchromosomic (Tc) bovine genetically engineered to produce high-potency human immunoglobulins without reliance on human plasma or donors; the platform targets immune and autoimmune disorders including type 1 diabetes (T1D), influenza, COVID-19, and organ transplant rejection. Core products in development include lead candidate SAB-142, a multi-target anti-thymocyte immunoglobulin in Phase 2b trials (SAFEGUARD study) to delay T1D progression in newly diagnosed patients by preserving beta cell function; SAB-185 for COVID-19; SAB-176 for influenza; and preclinical programs for autoimmune diseases and transplant rejection. Founded in 2014 and headquartered in Miami Beach, Florida, with original operations in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, the company conducts research and development primarily in the United States and collaborates with global pharmaceutical partners and government entities to address unmet needs in immunology. In July 2025, SAB Biotherapeutics completed an oversubscribed $175 million private placement financing led by strategic investor Sanofi alongside new investors RA Capital Management, Blackstone Multi-Asset Investing, Vivo Capital, Commodore Capital, and others, plus existing backers like Sessa Capital; proceeds fully fund the Phase 2b SAFEGUARD study for SAB-142 through completion and extend cash runway into mid-2028, with potential for up to $284 million more from warrant exercises.
