- ProShares UltraPro Short Dow30 (SDOW) is an exchange-traded fund that seeks daily investment results, before fees and expenses, corresponding to three times the inverse (-3x) of the daily performance of the Dow Jones Industrial Average Index. The fund employs derivatives including swaps with counterparties such as Barclays Capital, Bank of America, Societe Generale, Citibank, Goldman Sachs, UBS and BNP Paribas, as well as futures contracts on the DJIA Mini e-CBOT Equity Index; its portfolio also includes U.S. Treasury bills and net other assets to manage exposure and liquidity. Launched on February 9, 2010, and domiciled in the United States with options trading available, SDOW targets sophisticated investors seeking leveraged inverse exposure to the 30 large-cap blue-chip U.S. stocks in the price-weighted Dow Jones Industrial Average, excluding utilities and transportation companies.
ProShares, the issuer, founded in 2006 as a division of ProFunds Group and headquartered in Bethesda, Maryland, manages over $95 billion in assets across one of the largest lineups of ETFs focused on strategies including dividend growth, high income, interest rate hedged bonds, crypto-linked investments and geared (leveraged and inverse) products. The firm operates primarily in the United States, serving financial advisors and investors through national distribution channels enhanced by recent hires of Regional Vice Presidents Chad Brand (Southern California), Mike Hart (New York City, Westchester and Long Island) and Matt Zorumski (Florida) in September 2025.
In recent developments, ProShares surpassed $100 billion in assets under management in October 2025, opened a new office in New York City's Hudson Yards and expanded its product offerings with launches including ETFs targeting 2x daily returns of the S&P 500 Equal Weight Index (August 2025), Nasdaq-100 Top 30 Index (August 2025), Circle Internet Group (August 2025), Coinbase, Nvidia, Palantir and Tesla (September 2025), and futures-based XRP cryptocurrency funds (April 2025). Additional 2025 announcements encompass ETF share splits in November, appointment of Sharon Rosenthal as Chief Human Resources Officer in December, year-end capital gains distribution estimates and fall holiday trading schedules. These initiatives reflect ProShares' strategic growth, recruitment of over 20 roles across distribution, marketing, operations, product development and technology, and commitment to innovation amid expanding ETF demand.
