Business
Semperit AG Holding is a global manufacturer specializing in industrial polymer products and elastomer solutions primarily for the industrial and medical sectors. The company operates through two divisions: Semperit Industrial Applications, which produces hydraulic and industrial hoses, profiles, and conveyor belts; and Semperit Engineered Applications, which includes escalator handrails, cable car rings, railway superstructure products, construction seals, and customized liquid silicone and high-end mold production under the recently acquired Rico Group. Semperit’s product portfolio encompasses hydraulic and industrial hoses; conveyor belts; escalator handrails; building construction profiles; cable car rings; railway superstructure products; examination, protective, and surgical gloves (though it fully exited the glove business in 2024); as well as liquid silicone and elastomer applications targeted at technical solutions and healthcare sectors. Founded in 1824 and headquartered in Vienna, Austria, Semperit sells its products in over 100 countries, supported by 16 manufacturing facilities globally and a workforce of approximately 6,500 employees. In recent developments, Semperit completed the acquisition of the Rico Group in July 2023, significantly enhancing its capabilities in liquid silicone rubber products, customized elastomer applications, and high-end tooling technology, as well as expanding its footprint in the North American market. The full withdrawal from the glove business was executed in 2024 to focus exclusively on industrial elastomer products. This strategic shift strengthened profitability, with the company reporting a 21.1% increase in EBITDA to €84.9 million and returning to profitability with earnings after tax of €11.5 million in 2024. Semperit has also invested in production capacity expansions and implemented early cost-saving measures exceeding €18 million since 2023, positioning itself for growth in a challenging market environment. The company confirms its medium-term EBITDA target of around €120 million by 2026, reflecting its focus on operational efficiency and higher-margin product mixes. Semperit operates primarily in industrial sectors requiring specialized polymer products, serving customers in automotive, construction, healthcare, and heavy industry across Europe, North America, and Asia. The group remains majority-owned by B&C Holding with a 57.3% stake as of the end of 2024. Its global production sites and R&D efforts are concentrated in Austria and other key regions to drive innovation and technology leadership in elastomer applications. The company’s strategic emphasis remains on expanding its global industrial core business with tailored, high-performance elastomer products and solutions that address demanding market needs while leveraging its historical heritage and technological advancements.
