Incorporated in 1996 and headquartered in Wan Chai, Hong Kong, the company operates as a subsidiary of Shanghai Industrial Investment (Holdings) Co., Ltd. and focuses on toll road and bridge investments including the Jing-Hu Expressway (Shanghai section), Hu-Kun Expressway (Shanghai section), Hu-Yu Expressway (Shanghai section), and a 23.06% stake in Hangzhou Bay Bridge; environmental protection services such as sewage treatment, solid waste treatment, and clean energy including the Shanghai Baoshan Renewable Energy Utilization Centre; real estate through listed subsidiaries SI Urban Development (563.HK) and Shanghai Industrial Development (600748.SH) encompassing residential, commercial property development, investment, and hotel operations; consumer products comprising cigarettes via Nanyang Tobacco, packaging materials, and printed products via Wing Fat Printing; and healthcare involving pharmaceutical and healthcare product manufacturing, distribution and supply chain solutions, and retail pharmacy networks. Geographically, its operations span mainland China, Hong Kong, rest of Asia, and select international markets, serving government entities, commercial clients, and end consumers across these segments. Recent developments include the strategic investment in a closed-end fund for Hangzhou Bay Bridge in 2024 to enhance investment flexibility and liquidity; a proposed sale of its 23.06% stake in Ningbo Hangzhou Bay Bridge Development by indirect subsidiary Shanghai Jijin in November 2024 for no less than RMB1.747 billion; subscription of HK$1.637 billion exchangeable bonds in Yuefeng Environmental in 2023 to strengthen solid waste leadership; a RMB900 million pharmaceutical packaging procurement framework agreement with Shanghai Pharmaceuticals in October 2024; and robust 2024 financial performance with net profit of HK$2.808 billion, driven by infrastructure and environmental contributions, alongside a maintained 30% dividend payout ratio.
