Business
Chemical Industries (Far East) Limited Chemical Industries (Far East) Limited (C05.SI), an investment holding company, manufactures and distributes industrial chemicals and operates investment properties in Singapore and Myanmar. The company produces core chlor-alkali products including caustic soda (sodium hydroxide), chlorine, hydrochloric acid, sulphuric acid, sodium hypochlorite, hydrogen and calcium hypochlorite through electrolysis of sodium chloride at its Jurong Island facility; it supplies these in industrial and ultrapure grades via bulk tankers, intermediate bulk containers, drums and carboys to petrochemical, pharmaceutical, electronics, semiconductor, water treatment, textile and food processing industries. Chemical Industries (Far East) Limited also imports and distributes electronic G4 and G5 grade ultrapure chemicals for upstream semiconductor fabrication and downstream electronics processes; it acts as a general merchant, importer and exporter of chemicals. Established in 1963 and headquartered in Singapore, the company operates through industrial chemicals and properties segments, with subsidiaries including Chemical Industries (Myanmar) Limited and Juta Properties Private Limited. Recent developments include signing a distribution agreement for speciality chemicals to diversify its portfolio and reduce dependency on core products; it is advancing a non-binding MOU with TOPAN for a chlor-alkali manufacturing facility in Akutai City, Brunei; ongoing negotiations for a 10-year $150 million supply contract supporting a key customer's plant expansion; and active exploration of strategic partnerships, higher-value downstream products and property yield enhancements at Upper Circular Road and Carpenter Street sites.
