- SEI Tax Exempt Trust - Intermediate-Term Municipal Fund Class Y (SINYX) is an open-end mutual fund that seeks the highest level of income exempt from federal income tax consistent with the preservation of capital. The Fund, part of SEI Tax Exempt Trust established as a Massachusetts business trust in 1982 and administered from Oaks, Pennsylvania, invests under normal circumstances at least 80% of its net assets (plus any borrowings for investment purposes) in investment grade municipal securities, including municipal bonds, notes, and commercial paper issued by state and local governments and their agencies across the fifty U.S. states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and other U.S. territories; these securities pay interest exempt from federal income tax and generally not subject to the federal alternative minimum tax. It employs a multi-manager approach with sub-advisers such as Allspring Global Investments, LLC, Delaware Investments Fund Advisers, Insight North America LLC, Neuberger Berman Investment Advisers LLC, Pacific Investment Management Company LLC, Spectrum Asset Management, Inc., Wellington Management Company LLP, and Western Asset Management Company, LLC, under the supervision of investment adviser SEI Investments Management Corporation, which may also directly manage a portion of the portfolio including up to 5% in closed-end bond funds; the Fund targets a dollar-weighted average portfolio maturity of three to ten years, with flexibility to shorten below three years based on market conditions, while limiting more than 25% exposure to issuers in the same state or similar revenue projects (excluding certain categories like general obligations). The Fund may allocate up to 20% to taxable debt or lower-rated/non-investment grade municipals (below BBB-/Baa3), interest rate swaps for hedging, repurchase agreements, and when-issued securities; as of late 2025, total net assets approximate $1.54 billion with a net expense ratio of 0.38%, minimum initial investment of $100,000 for Class Y shares, and top holdings including Southeast Energy Authority Coop District revenue bonds, Wisconsin pollution control revenue bonds, New Jersey tobacco settlement bonds, Massachusetts development finance agency bonds, and Atlanta water/wastewater revenue bonds. Recent updates include a supplement to the Statement of Additional Information dated April 16, 2024, designating Bridget E. Sudall as Anti-Money Laundering Compliance Officer and Privacy Officer, replacing Donald Duncan, alongside prospectuses and SAIs dated December 31, 2023 incorporating fiscal year-end August 31, 2023 financials; portfolio turnover stands at 24%, with no reported acquisitions, funding rounds, major partnerships, or strategic shifts specific to the Fund in the last 1-2 years, maintaining its focus on the national intermediate-term municipal bond segment for institutional and high-net-worth investors seeking tax-advantaged fixed income. The Fund operates exclusively in U.S. markets without notable subsidiaries or parent relationships beyond the SEI Investments ecosystem.
